Over the past six years, we've been working hard towards a big new dream: building a community kitchen so we can reach more children with free school meals in Nakuru, Kenya.
In July 2026, we hit an amazing milestone: our community kitchen launched, and is now providing nutritious meals to 70 children every school day! The children have been identified by their teachers as those most in need — kids who often otherwise come to school empty-handed, sitting in class feeling faint, hungry, or worrying about a lunchtime with no food.
Now, our team of cooks is preparing a delicious hot lunch made from local ingredients, and delivering it to Muringa Comprehensive School. But we urgently need new supporters so we can keep providing meals to 70 kids for as long as possible.
We're entirely led by volunteers, so 100% of your donation will go our essential running costs: locally sourced food, wages for our cooks, and the costs of delivering meals to local children. Thank you so much.
In 2025, we spent a day visiting local schools and hearing from headteachers about the children in their community. We heard stories of great need: children coming to school hungry, fainting in class, or staying out of school to find food. One headteacher told us…
“Today we had a case of a family where the kids were absent. I followed up with the parents to ask why, and they told me there was no food in the house so she allowed the kids to stay home from school to go and beg instead.””
